Toulouse is proud of its nightlife. And when you hire a car from you can take full advantage of all that Toulouse has to offer! There are classical music events which mainly take place in the Halle aux Grains and in the théâtre du Capitole. However, its good to be aware that many of the city's churches and auditoria like the Basilique Saint-Sernin, Auditorium Saint-Pierre-des-Cuisines and Eglise Saint-Pierre-des-Chartreux are also used for classical music productions. In the beginning of autumn they host the international Toulouse Les Orgues festival or Toulouse Organ Festival. The ensemble conventuel des Jacobins has the honour of hosting the piano festival, Piano aux Jacobins in September.

Rock, pop and jazz concerts are found in such venues as the Bikini, Bijou, salle Nougaro, Altigone and Mazades. For larger music performances, you'll find venues such as the Odyssud, the Palais des Sports and the Zénith is where you'll want to go. The Jazz sur Son 31 festival in October generally welcomes over thirty international artists who perform in the city's different concert halls.

Not to be left out are Toulouse's many bars, which offer live music all year round and welcome performances by regional artists in all styles of music - jazz and blues in particular being long-standing favourites in Mandala and Erich Coffee. Pubs are all the rage here, with a wide variety to choose from, including the Dubliner's, Mulligan's, Petit London and the Melting Pot. Students from the universities can be found patronizing the Saint-Pierre area of the city where you'll find Bar Basque, Pastis ô Maître and San Pedro. In the Arnaud-Bernard area you'll find the Breughel, Cactus and the Q'sec/ Ragtime which are close to the university. Place du Capitole, Place Wilson and the grand boulevards remain Toulouse's night-time hot spots at such places as the Café Rock du Dauphin, Bar One and Bodega. During the week, most bars have to close at 2am, however, there are after hours bars like the Saint-Georges Club, Purgatoire or the Clap that stay open later. During the weekend, there is no set time for closing so entertainment goes on until quite late.
